Storage tips

Save Time
- A well-organized closet saves you 15 minutes a day. That’s 90 hours a year!
- Storing your clothes by colour is a time saver and it makes accessorizing so simple.
- A closet equipped with drawers for jewelry and accessories with all your accessories in plain view helps avoid that “same-old-outfit” habit.
- Install a valet rod to hang tomorrow’s outfit to save time in the morning.
- We also suggest that you keep heavier objects in your closet below waist level and lighter ones higher up.
Take care of your garments and other stored items
- Always use wooden hangers. They help prolong the life of your clothes!
- Hang dresses, robes and coats from one high rod. It helps them always look their best!
- Fold your sweaters and knits for storage. It keeps them neat and helps avoid stretching them. Also, remember to place heavier sweaters on the bottom of the pile.
- Never leave clothes in a dry-cleaning wrapper in your closet. It traps moisture.
- Always clean clothes before storing them in the closet. It stops stains from setting.
- Don’t store wool or silk in airtight containers. They really do need to breathe.
- Place your shoes on inclined shelves to improve accessibility. Consider lining the shelves with cedar planking – the natural aroma helps neutralize odors.
- Use acrylic separators to keep your bags and purses upright, and maintain their shape. Also, stuff them with acid-free tissue paper when not in use.
Maximize your closet storage space
- Double up on your rods to increase your hanging space. If ceiling height permits, you can add a 3rd rod that pulls down for counter seasonal garments.
- Use adjustable shelves so you can modify your system when required to avoid wasted vertical space.
- Fixed shelves can be put on sliders to improve access to deep storage systems.
- Use your floor space properly. Add shelves or cubbies to utilize this space for shoes or baskets.
- Hooks and Racks can be mounted on the wall space or back of the door to make sure no available space is wasted.
- Keep smaller items in bins, baskets, or closed containers to keep them organized.
- Add integrated lighting to help you find what you are looking for quickly. If no outlet is available in the closet, use battery operated puck lighting.
